Picture something being stirred up from a resting state into an active one — a person who was calm now leaning forward, a crowd's curiosity waking up, a nerve that starts . Excite is that stirring into activity. What gets stirred decides how technical or how everyday the word sounds.

可以想成：某樣東西從安靜的狀態被撩動起來，開始活躍——本來平靜的人身體往前傾了、一群人的好奇心被喚醒了、一條神經開始放電。excite 就是這個「撩動起來」。被撩動的是什麼，決定了這個字聽起來是日常的還是專業的。要注意主詞是「引起感覺的東西」，不是感覺到的人。
