Taking something out of the picture so completely that it is no longer part of it at all — not reduced, not hidden, gone. What gets taken out can be a problem, a team still in the competition, or a name on a list of possible suspects. In every case the set that remains no longer contains it.

可以想成：把某樣東西從畫面裡整個拿掉，讓它不再是其中的一部分——不是變少，也不是藏起來，而是沒有了。被拿掉的可以是一個問題、一支還在比賽的隊伍，或是可疑名單上的一個名字。共通點是：剩下的那一組裡，再也沒有它。
