    A question you ask in order to get information, or an official process of finding out the facts about something. It is the British way of spelling `inquiry`.

    「enquiry」和「inquiry」是同一個字的兩種拼法，意思完全一樣——英式英文（還有台灣的商用書信、飯店和學校網頁）習慣寫 enquiry，美式多半寫 inquiry。它指的是「為了拿到資訊而問的問題」：寫信問價錢、打電話問時間，都是 enquiry；也可以指官方為了查清楚一件事而做的「調查」。可以想成這個字就是「把問題送出去，等答案回來」，所以常搭配 make／send／deal with。要注意介系詞會換：問內容用 about（an enquiry about tickets），正式調查用 into（an enquiry into the accident）。

Think of someone reaching out to find something out. At the small end it is one question sent to a company or an office — a phone call, an email asking about prices or opening times. At the large end the same reaching-out is done officially and at scale: a formal process set up to establish what actually happened. Both are the same act, just at different sizes.

可以想成「為了弄清楚，主動去問」這個動作。小的那一端，就是你打電話或寫信去問一家公司價錢、時間、還有沒有位子——一個問題而已。大的那一端，同樣是去問，只是變成正式、有規模的：成立一個程序，一個一個把人找來問，把事情的真相查出來。兩邊其實是同一件事，差別只在誰在問、問得多大。
