You can think of it as light (not heavy) turned into a way of doing something: your hand comes down with almost no weight behind it. The knock, the touch, the press is there — you can feel it — but it barely presses in, so it stays soft, brief and quiet. From that one gesture, everything else follows: a thin scatter of flour weighs almost nothing, and so does a matter you barely let press on you.
