    「went」是 go 的過去式。go - went - gone 三個字長得完全不一樣，所以要整組一起記。可以想成 went 只做一件事：把 go 的所有意思整個往「已經發生過」推。所以它可以是「去了某個地方」（went to Tainan）、「去做某項活動」（went swimming）、「變成某個狀態」（went quiet）、也可以是「事情後來怎麼樣」（went well）。另外要記住位置：單純講過去發生的事用 went，完成式的位置留給 gone（have gone）。

Think of it as go with the clock already stopped: at some earlier moment someone or something moved away, left, set off to do a thing, or shifted into another state — and that movement is now finished and sitting in the past.
