Hold the shape first: something round, full on every side, with no flat patch and no dent in it. English lends that shape out. It puts it on a body, on a person, and on a course of study or a working life. Wherever it lands, the praise is the same one — full all the way round, nothing missing on any side. Notice what it never says: it says nothing about how high any one side reaches.
