Picture a result that arrives without anyone reaching for a switch: one thing happens, and the next thing follows on its own. Automatically marks that missing step. Sometimes the missing step is a decision (a rule applies by itself), sometimes it is a thought (your hand moves before you think), and sometimes it is a hand on a machine.
可以想成：一個結果自己就來了，沒有人去按開關——前面的事一發生，後面的事就跟著發生。automatically 標示的就是「中間少了那一步」。少掉的那一步有時是判斷（規定自己就生效了），有時是念頭（手比腦子還快），有時就是真的少了一隻操作機器的手。看清楚少掉的是哪一步，三個用法就分得開了。
