The ability to make good choices and judge things well, gained from life experience.
智慧
Picture someone who has been through a lot and, faced with a hard choice, sees which way is actually right — not because they are clever, but because life has taught them. That judgement is wisdom. The word then splits: it can name the store of good sense a whole people has built up, or it can be pinned onto a belief that is only assumed to be wise.
可以想成：一個經歷過很多事的人，碰到難以取捨的狀況時，看得出來哪一條路才對——不是因為腦筋快，而是因為活過來了。wisdom 講的就是這種判斷力。從這裡它分成兩邊：一邊指一整個群體長年累積下來的好見識；另一邊則是被「冠上」智慧之名的東西——大家都這麼說，或者說話的人其實不太以為然。
