    unkind 說的是「做的事或說的話讓人難過」——重點在對方心裡的感覺，不是在事情本身好壞。英文裡 unkind 語氣比較正式一點，平常聊天更常說 mean 或 nasty；往上還有 cruel，那是很嚴重、讓人真的很痛苦的程度。unkind 可以想成把 kind「翻過來」：kind 的人讓你心裡變舒服，unkind 的人讓你心裡變難受；各種用法（unkind words、be unkind to someone）就像都從這個畫面長出來的。

Kind means you think about how the other person will feel, and you act on that. Unkind is that care switched off: what you say or do lands on someone and hurts, and you either did not care that it would, or you meant it to. It is often not shouting — a single cool remark about someone's face or their work is enough.
