A belief, custom, or way of doing things that people have kept for a long time and pass on to others.
傳統
Picture something being handed from one pair of hands to the next, down a long line of people: how a festival is kept, how a dish is cooked, what a family does every New Year. Nobody in the line invented it and nobody owns it — each one received it and passed it on. Tradition can be thought of as that line itself, still moving, with the thing still being carried along it.
