    中文要先想清楚是哪一邊的親戚才講得出口——哥哥弟弟的兒子叫「姪子」，姊姊妹妹的兒子叫「外甥」，另一半那邊的又要再換一個稱呼；英文全部收成一個 nephew。可以想成：nephew 只問兩件事——比你小一輩，而且是「兄弟姊妹的兒子」，至於從爸爸這邊還是媽媽這邊來的，英文根本不放進這個字裡。女生版是 niece；反過來從孩子的角度看你，你就是他的 uncle 或 aunt。真的需要說明是哪一邊時，英文才另外補一句 on my mother's side／on my father's side。
