    英文的 aunt 一個字就蓋住中文一整排稱呼：姑姑、阿姨、伯母、嬸嬸、舅媽，只要是爸媽那一輩、跟你家有這層關係的女性長輩，英文都叫 aunt。可以想成「爸爸或媽媽的姊妹，加上他們兄弟的太太」這一圈人，英文不特別分是哪一邊、誰比較大。真的需要說清楚時，英文是加一句話說明，像 my aunt on my mother's side（我媽那邊的阿姨）、my father's sister（我爸的姊妹），而不是換一個字。男生那邊對應的字是 uncle。
