From the word’s history
From Old English 'glæd' = bright, shining, cheerful — the original sense was literally 'shining', which is why several frozen phrases keep the older 'bright/good' flavour rather than today's 'pleased'.
源自古英語 glæd，意思是「明亮的、發光的、開朗的」——本義其實是「發亮」，這正是為什麼有幾個固定老片語還留著舊的「明亮／喜氣」味，而不是今天的「高興」。
