    「delighted」是「高興」裡比較強、也比較有禮貌的一個。它比 pleased、glad 更開心，但比 thrilled、ecstatic 平靜一些，所以大人寫感謝卡、招呼客人時最常用它。可以想成：delight 本來是一陣湧上來的快樂，delighted 就是「整個人被那份快樂裝滿」，而且通常臉上看得出來。後面常接 to + 原形動詞（delighted to see you）或 that 子句（delighted that you came）。

You can picture the moment a piece of good news lands and your face changes before you can control it — the smile that arrives on its own. Delighted is happiness that has a cause and a direction: something happened, or someone did something for you, and you are pleased about that particular thing. It is warmer and more definite than just 'happy', and it points outward at whatever caused it.

可以想成好消息傳進來的那一秒：你還來不及控制表情，笑就先浮上來了。delighted 的高興是有來由、有對象的——是「因為某件事」而開心，不是一種背景般的心情。它比 happy 更強、更明亮，也更外顯：對方看得出你很高興，而且知道你在為什麼高興。
