You can think of convenient as a thing that fits into the shape of your day instead of pushing against it. The bus that comes at exactly the hour you finish work, the shop that is open when you actually need it, the meeting time that does not force you to move anything else — none of them make you do extra work, so they slide into a space you already had. That is the feeling inside the word: not that something is good, but that it costs you almost nothing in time or trouble.
