Consumable goods are things made to be used up and then replaced, not kept for years. Printer ink, paper, batteries, soap, medical gloves — once you use them, they are gone, so you buy more. Offices and factories set them apart from machines and furniture, which are meant to last. It is a calm, practical, slightly technical word; a shop may just say supplies. As an adjective it sits in front of goods or supplies. As a noun, a consumable is one such item, though everyday English more often names the thing itself.
