You can picture bothered as the state of having something small but nagging sitting in your head — it keeps tugging at your attention and takes up room there. Because English speakers so often use it with not, the word is heard most in the shape 'I'm not bothered': nothing is tugging, so nothing needs deciding.
可以想成：心裡有件事一直在扯你的注意力，不見得多嚴重，但就是佔著位置、放不下。bothered 講的就是「被那件事纏著」的狀態。也因為英語裡很常搭配 not 使用，你最常聽到的其實是反過來的樣子——沒有東西在扯我，所以我不介意。
