Socialist is the label for anything tied to socialism — the idea that a society should have the people or government SHARE the ownership of factories, land, and wealth instead of leaving it in a few private hands. Something socialist leans toward that shared-ownership idea; a socialist is a person who believes in it.

可以想成 socialist 是一張貼在『社會主義』上的標籤——社會主義這套想法，主張讓工廠、土地和財富由政府或全民共有共享，而不是握在少數私人手裡。凡是跟這套共享想法有關、傾向它的，就是 socialist（形容詞）；相信、支持它的人，就是 socialist（名詞）。
