Owned or used by someone else before you got it, so it is not new. It describes clothes, cars, books, furniture and other things that have had an owner already.
二手的；中古的
Picture something being handed along. It was in someone else's hands first, and yours are the second pair to hold it. That is all the word claims: not first. A coat handed on like this is used but often fine; a story handed on like this has passed through a mouth that was not there.
可以想成一樣東西被傳遞過來。它先在別人手上，你的手是第二雙。這個字主張的就只有這件事：你不是第一個。這樣傳過來的外套，是用過的，但常常還很好。這樣傳過來的話，就多了一個沒有在現場的嘴巴。
