Picture a surface that has not been smoothed down — edges left as they came. Roughly is that unsmoothed quality turned into an adverb. Applied to how you handle something, it means without care or gentleness; applied to a number, it means the figure has not been filed down to an exact value, so it is close but not polished.
可以想成：一個沒有磨平的表面，邊邊角角就這樣留著。roughly 就是把這種「沒磨過」的性質變成副詞。用在動作上，就是沒有輕手輕腳、粗手粗腳地做；用在數字上，就是這個數還沒被磨到精確，差不多但不漂亮。兩個用法看起來差很遠，其實共用同一個「未經細修」的畫面。
