Think of an organisation with a gap in it, going out to find fresh people to fill that gap — putting up a notice, interviewing, persuading, and finally bringing someone in from outside. Everything here is that one movement: from outside, in. The noun is simply the person standing at the end of that movement, newly inside and not yet part of the furniture.

可以想成一個團體身上有個缺口，於是它走出去找新的人來補：貼公告、面試、遊說，最後把一個原本在外面的人帶進來。recruit 的各種用法差不多都在演這一個動作——從外面到裡面。名詞就是站在這個動作終點的那個人：剛進來、還沒被大家當成理所當然的一份子。
