Think of it as the feeling of 'already ready, nothing in the way'. The word grows straight out of ready: if something is ready, you do not have to wait for it, hunt for it, or push it. Readily takes that feeling and attaches it to an action — the thing arrives at once, because either the object is sitting right there within reach, or the person needing to act does not stop to think it over first.
