Picture something spread out over a lot of ground instead of sitting in one spot. That spreading is the whole adverb, and what gets spread changes with the verb: a belief spread across many people, points spread far apart on a map, differences spread far apart on a scale, a reader spread across many kinds of book.
可以想成：一樣東西攤開在很大的範圍上，而不是集中在一個點。這個副詞講的就是那個「攤得很開」，至於攤開的是什麼，要看它配哪個動詞：一個想法散布在很多人身上、地圖上的點彼此離得很遠、兩個數字在量尺上相差很多、一個人讀過的書涵蓋很多種類。
