A way to hold the adjective: a name with a large piece of ground attached to it. The -ed here is the one in talented or pointed — it means carrying this, fitted with this — so landed is simply with land. From that single picture the word looks two ways: at the people who carry the land (landed gentry) and at the thing being carried (a landed estate). Note that this is a different word from the landed in the plane landed, which is the past form of the verb.

Wiktionary gives landed as inherited from Middle English londed, from Old English ġelandod, and analysable on the surface as land + -ed. That -ed forms adjectives meaning provided with, so the modern core — owning land, consisting of land — sits directly on top of the older form.
