One way to picture input: the arrow pointing into a box. Something goes in so the box can do its work — data into a computer, power into a machine, ideas and effort into a project. The word names what goes in, and its partner output names what comes back out.

可以想成 input 是指向盒子的那支箭頭：有東西送進去，盒子才動得起來——資料送進電腦、電力送進機器、想法和心力送進一個案子。這個字指的是「送進去的那些東西」，跟它成對的 output 則是跑出來的結果。
