Picture a crate being opened: inside are real, solid things — shoes, rice, phones — things somebody made or grew, and things somebody will pay for. Goods is that crate-full of actual stuff, always plural, never one thing. Every later use keeps two features of the crate: it holds real things, and those things belong to someone or are owed to someone.

可以想成一個木箱被打開，裡面是實實在在的東西——鞋子、米、手機——有人做出來或種出來的，也有人願意付錢買的。goods 給人的感覺就像這一整箱看得到、摸得到的東西，永遠是複數，沒有單數形。後面各種用法都還留著這箱子的兩個特點：裡面裝的是真東西，而且這些東西有主人，或者是欠著誰、該交給誰的。
