A way to picture it: someone acting without stopping to think first — not because they can't think, but because in that moment they didn't. Sometimes that means a bad decision; sometimes it just means looking silly in front of other people.
一個人做了一件「事後回頭看，明明可以想清楚卻沒想」的事。fool 是傻子，foolish 就是帶著那個傻子的味道：不是笨到學不會，而是在那個當下沒有把腦袋用上——沒有先想一下這樣做會怎樣。這個畫面有兩個方向：一是後果面的傻（做了會出事的決定），二是場面上的傻（當著別人的面顯得很蠢），中文的「傻」剛好也同時裝得下這兩層。
