One way to picture it: water running along without anything blocking it. Something fluent keeps moving — words, sentences, or movements come one after another with no stops, no going back to fix things.
一條水流一直往前流，中間沒有被石頭卡住。fluent 這個字本來就跟「流」有關（想想 fluid 流體、flow 流動）：一件事在進行的時候，一段接一段自己順下去，中間不必停下來想、不必倒回去修、不會突然卡住。用在講話上，就是話從嘴裡一路流出來，不用中途停下來找字；用在寫的東西、用在身體的動作上，也都是同一個畫面——沒有斷點，沒有頓挫。
