A hand that was resting on someone's shoulder, and then lifting off. Emancipated can be thought of as the moment after the lift: the person is standing in the same place, but nothing is holding them now.
可以想成本來壓在肩上的一隻手，被拿開了。emancipated 的畫面比較像那隻手離開之後的那一刻：人還站在原地，但已經沒有東西按著他了。所以這個字裡永遠有一個「之前」——之前有人、有法律或有規矩管著。兩個用法差別只在那隻手是誰的：一個是法律和社會的手，一個是舊觀念的手。
