Picture yourself stuck on something and deliberately going to a place where the answer is kept — a doctor's room, a colleague's desk, a page in a manual. You do not just wonder; you go and ask. Consult is that turning-to-a-source, and it is a formal word for it.

可以想成：你卡住了，於是特地走向一個「知道答案的地方」——醫生的診間、同事的位子、手冊裡的某一頁。你不是自己猜，是去問。consult 就是這個「轉向一個來源去要答案」的動作，語氣偏正式，書面和職場場合最常見。
