Picture a pile of things and a row of labelled boxes: you pick each thing up, decide which box it belongs in, and put it there. The word is about the deciding and the putting — it can be done by a strict published system, or just in your own head when you size somebody up.
可以想成：面前一堆東西，旁邊一排貼好標籤的箱子——你把東西一件件拿起來，判斷它該進哪一箱，然後放進去。這個字講的就是「判斷歸屬」這個動作；分法可以是一套白紙黑字的制度，也可以只是你心裡對一個人的歸類。
