A busybody is someone who pushes into other people’s private business — asking, watching, giving advice nobody asked for. The word always shows . You would not proudly call yourself a busybody; it means you are being a nuisance. It is a “busy person,” but busy with the wrong things: other people’s lives, not their own work. Ordinary spoken English, a little old-fashioned, still common when people complain about a neighbour or a relative who cannot leave things alone.
