Some person — there is a person there, but we are not pinning down who. From that 'a person who counts as someone' grows the idea of a person who really counts.
可以想成「有那麼一個人」——確實存在一個人，但我們不指明、或不知道是誰。字面就是 some（某個）+ body（人）。有趣的是，從「算是個人物」這個味道，又長出了「真正算得上人物」的意思。
