Think of blow with -er stuck on the end, the way English turns almost any action into a name for whatever does it. The picture that comes out is simple: a thing, or a person, with air coming out of it. A fan behind a , a pipe feeding a furnace, a craftworker with their cheeks full — all of them are the same shape, just at different sizes. Everything else this word does starts from that puff of moving air.
