Picture someone holding a bill that nobody will pay. Something was taken from them, or kept from them, and the account has not been settled. Aggrieved always points at that account: a wrong this person believes was done to them. In everyday use the account stays inside, and you hear it in the voice. In law the same account is written down, and it becomes a position — the side the wrong was done to.
