You can picture actual as a finger pointing firmly at the real, true thing itself — not a guess, not a copy, not the bits around it, but THIS one, for real. You put it in front of a noun to say 'I mean the genuine, exact thing.' The second use is the same finger, now pointing past the warm-up and side-parts straight at the main event itself.
