One way to hold this word: a plain surface with one extra thing laid on top of it. A grey room with a single orange wall. A line of even with one struck harder. A row of ordinary letters with a small mark over one of them. The plain part stays plain, and that is exactly what lets the added part be noticed. Accented always points at whatever carries that extra layer.
可以想成一片平的底，上面多加了一樣東西。灰色的房間裡留一面橘色的牆。一排一樣重的鼓點裡，有一拍敲得比較用力。一列普通字母裡，有一個頭上多了小符號。底維持平淡，加上去的那一層才會被看見或聽見。accented 指的一直都是「帶著多出來那一層」的那個東西：可能是一段話，可能是一面牆，也可能是一個字母。
