    「unnecessary」是英文裡常見的「不需要、多餘」——東西或動作你用不到，或已經超過真正需要的量。它由 un-（不）加上 necessary（必要的）組成，所以核心意思可以想成「不是必要的」。necessary 用在「你真的需要」；unnecessary 用在「你其實不需要」，例如 unnecessary expense（多餘的花費）、an unnecessary risk（沒必要冒的風險）。句型 it is unnecessary to… 等於「不必做…」。
