From Latin tendere 'to stretch' (via tensionem 'a stretching'), from PIE root *ten- 'to stretch'. The modern core is exactly that — something pulled tight; a taut rope, a tight muscle, a mind on edge and a strained relationship are all kinds of stretching.

來自拉丁文 tendere『拉、伸展』（經 tensionem『拉緊』），再往上是原始印歐字根 *ten-『伸展』。現代的核心正是這個：被拉到繃緊。不論是繃緊的繩子、緊繃的肌肉、緊張的心，還是快要撕破臉的關係，都是某種『被拉緊』。
