Spicy can be pictured as food that has been given a strong taste by — the flavour is loud, and often there is a warm burning in your mouth that feels good rather than painful. The key idea is a taste that wakes you up instead of sitting quietly. The same 'wakes you up, a little too much' feeling is what gets carried over to stories and pictures.
