Picture a gap in the story where the method should be. Something did happen, or will happen — but the how is missing, and the speaker leaves it missing on purpose. Somehow is the word that marks that blank.
可以想成：故事裡本來該寫「怎麼做到的」那一格是空的。事情確實發生了，或一定會發生，但過程那一段講的人自己也說不清楚，就乾脆留白。somehow 就是標出這格空白的字——空的可能是方法，也可能是原因。
