Satiety is the condition of feeling you have had enough of something, most often food. After a meal, satiety is that quiet, full feeling that stops you reaching for more. Doctors and food scientists use the word; they talk about foods that give lasting satiety. Ordinary people almost never say it — they say they are full. It is a noun for a state, not an action. Close to satiation, though actually satiety is more the condition you are in, while satiation is more the filling-up that gets you there. Writers sometimes stretch it: “visual satiety” when you are tired of looking at the same thing.
