Sainthood is the state of being a saint — the condition, not the person. In the Catholic Church, when leaders formally say a dead person was holy enough to be called a saint, people say that person was raised to sainthood. More loosely, we use it when a living person is treated as perfectly good, almost too good. The ending -hood means “the state of being”, the same piece as in childhood. You can talk about someone's sainthood; you cannot call the person “a sainthood”.
