A rower is a person who rows: someone who makes a boat move across water by pulling oars. In everyday talk it can mean anyone in a small . In sport it means someone who trains for in long, narrow boats, often in a team. It is a plain, neutral noun, made the usual way — the verb row plus -er, “the one who does it.” Older sport writing may say or ; rower is the simple word that covers everyone. It is not a verb. You do not “rower” a boat; you row it, and you are a rower.
