You can think of renewed as a second round. Something was here, it or stopped, and now it is back — and the second round usually comes back stronger than the first. That is what separates it from new, which has no first round behind it. Point that picture at a feeling in the world and you get renewed interest; point it at a tired person and you get someone who feels renewed.
renewed 可以想成「第二輪」。某樣東西本來就在，後來淡掉或停掉，現在又回來了——而且回來的這一輪通常比第一輪更強。這正是它跟 new 不一樣的地方：new 的背後沒有第一輪。把這個畫面對準外面的一件事，就是 renewed interest；對準一個累壞的人，就是他 feels renewed。同一個畫面，一個朝外，一個朝內。
