One way to picture reminder: something that pulls a thought back to the front of your mind. Sometimes it does that by accident — a photo, a smell, a scar — and sometimes it was sent on purpose, like the note from the dentist. Same job either way: it puts the thing back in front of you.
可以想成 reminder 是「把一個念頭重新拉到眼前」的東西。有時候是不小心的——一張照片、一種氣味、一道疤；有時候是特意送來的，像牙醫寄來的那張通知。作用都一樣：它把那件事重新擺回你面前。
