    regarding 就是正式版的 about，最常站在信件、電子郵件或演講的最前面，先告訴對方「這封信要談的是哪件事」，再開始講內容。它可以想成是從 regard（看向、注視）長出來的：先把大家的目光帶到同一個主題上，話才好說下去。regarding 後面直接接名詞（regarding your letter），不加 to；只有比較長的 with regard to 才有 to。

Think of it as a label you stick on the front of what you are about to say: it points at the topic before you start talking about it. "Regarding your email of 3 May, ..." tells the reader in advance which thing everything after this sentence is aimed at. It does not add any meaning of its own — it only aims the sentence, the way a subject line aims a letter.
