    「postpone」是把「已經排好的事」改到更晚的時間——事情還會發生，只是日期往後移。常見說法：postpone the match / trip until next week、postpone doing something、postpone something for two days。跟 put off 容易搞混——put off 比較口語，常帶「現在不想做」的感覺；postpone 比較正式、像有安排地改期。跟 delay 也近：delay 常是「等到另一件事發生再說」；postpone 更強調「主動改到較晚的時間」。跟 cancel 不同：cancel 是取消（拿掉），postpone 是改期（還在）。

One way to picture postpone: the event stays on the calendar, but you slide it to a later square. It is not cancelling — the thing is still going to happen; only the date moved. That is the difference a most often needs: postpone moves it, cancel removes it.
