Polack is a very offensive word for a person from Poland. Do not use it. In Polish, Polak is simply the ordinary word for a Polish person; English borrowed it and turned it into a slur, the kind of name meant to push someone down. Older insulting talk in English used it this way, and it still hurts. The ordinary, respectful words are Pole and Polish person. If you meet Polack in an old book or a film, read it as a warning about the speaker, not as a word to copy.
