A soldier who moves at the front of a group, ahead of everyone else, so that he is the first to see whatever is waiting on the path.
尖兵
One person walking at the very front of a line, alone, twenty steps ahead of everyone else. Because he is first, he meets whatever is on the path before the group does, and the group reads his hand to know what to do. That single figure at the tip is the picture the word keeps, whether the line is a patrol on a or a company facing a difficult subject.
